March Madness Musings

Bottom line, you’re either a risk taker or you’re not. And if you don’t take risks, you’ll never win big

It’s that time of year again! The Final Four in College Basketball next weekend, Baseball season begins, Hockey Playoffs begin – Go Kings Go! And gearing up for Parkinson’s Awareness Month which begins on Saturday, April 1.

So, here we go……

Those Vibrating Gloves

The most popular Twitchy Woman Youtube of all time is about Dr. Peter Tass and the vibrating gloves for Parkinson’s. In just over 2 weeks, it has had over 1700 views!!!! Wow. And that pushed the total YouTube views for Twitchy Woman over the 10,000 mark. Yay!

There has been some confusion about the company that was supposed to be working to develop the gloves with Dr. Tass. I received this statement from Dr. Tass yesterday: “Stanford terminated the collaboration with Synergic Medical Technologies, Inc. in September 2022. Currently, Dr. Peter Tass’ lab is developing a next generation glove system together with experienced industry partners. New studies will commence at Stanford in July 2023. Timelines, studies and an IRB-cleared electronic screening questionnaire can be requested through parkinsonsvcr@stanford.edu in a few days.”

I will keep you informed about the progress on this project.

A lot of people notice when you succeed, but they don’t see what it takes to get there

When life kicks you, let it kick you forward.

World Parkinson’s Month

April is World Parkinson’s Month. Look for a lot of activity in the Parkinson’s cyberspace. All of the major organizations will have even more Zoom meetings for you to choose from in addition to some in-person meetings. This is your chance to learn how you can become pro-active in the PD community. A few examples:

Parkinson’s Foundation: #Take6forPD

PD Avengers: Join the movement to end Parkinson’s Disease

PD Warrior from Australia holds their annual Insight into Parkinson’s Conference online:

There are many more events to choose from next month. Make sure that you don’t overdo it. After all, that is what we Parkie’s seem to do best. In the meantime, enjoy the Final Four next weekend and I will be back in a couple of weeks with more on Parkinson’s Awareness Month.

Clinical Trials Corner

SEPTEMBER 2025

I’ve been hesitant to feature new clinical trials as a few that I had on my list to include in future columns have either been removed from the site or marked as withdrawn. Keeping my fingers crossed that the trials I feature continue to recruit and maintain their funding. Click here for the rest of the report from Jen

Thank You!

All Twitchy Women programs are free to all who participate. However, they are not without cost. It takes resources to continue our work and we cannot do it without your help. Through our partnership with the Parkinson’s Wellness Fund, those who want to provide support can do so. Thank you to all of you who have contributed. It is really appreciated.
