All I Want for the Holidays is….

In Gratitude

Before we get to the fun stuff, I want to thank all of you for making 2023 a great year for Twitchy Woman. It really means a lot to me that you chose to read this blog or participate in our other programs. There are so many others to choose from, all providing great information and programs.

Whatever winter holiday you celebrate, it most likely involves gift giving. Last week, on Giving Tuesday, many of you chose to give a donation to Twitchy Woman as part of your holiday giving. I cannot thank you enough for your ongoing support over the last 9 years. We have raised just about $2000, which will enable us to continue to provide programs at no charge to those attending in the coming year. You have enabled our amazing team of volunteers to provide twice monthly Sunday Mornings with Twitchy Woman virtual programs, an internationally recognized Peer to Peer Mentoring program, chat groups and more. If you have not yet given and wish to make a donation, please click here. All donations will be processed through our fiscal sponsor, The Parkinson’s Wellness Fund (Meyrow Foundation)*

Now for the Fun Stuff

This morning, the Parkinson’s Foundation posted a list of gifts for People with Parkinson’s. There were a lot of familiar things on the list, like Trekking Poles or an Audible membership. I saw a few things that I would like to get and a few more that I did not know existed.

Luxury is always a treat. A simple luxury can be found for the shower with these shower bombs by Body Restore. The scent of Lavendar is well known for its soothing, sleep inducing properties. The Lavendar Calm shower bomb sounds like it is just what the doctor ordered for a restful night. On those nights when I am too achy to go to sleep, I take a hot shower to relax. Adding the shower bomb sounds like the perfect addition to that shower.

Another great gift is an insulated metal water bottle. Many of us don’t drink enough water so this is a great thing to have. I carry mine around all day, refilling it as needed. I have several that I have received from different organizations and I like them a lot. I like my drinks very hot or cold. If I put ice in the bottle, it will keep my drinks cold for more than 24 hours. Some have a straw, which makes it easier to use. I just saw this one which is very similar to my favorite bottle. There are many others to choose from online.

Did you know that there are adaptive cutting boards for the kitchen? I did not until I looked it up. There are all kinds of adaptive tools for the kitchen (and your home) that will keep you from burning yourself on the oven, stabbing yourself (or anyone else nearby) with a knife or injuring yourself in other ways. Look at what is available and will work for you.

Looking for something else for you or a loved one? Just type “adaptive” in the Amazon search and you will get a lot of choices. Let me know if you find something that is great for People with Parkinson’s so I can add it to the list.

Have a great week!
