Don’t know when I’ll be back again
Next week, Mr. Twitchy and I will be leaving for a 3 week vacation. This will be our second major trip since the Pandemic began. Last December, we went to Antarctica for 2 weeks. It still feels odd to travel, with COVID still lurking about, but we need to have some semblance of normalcy in our lives again.
When living with a chronic progressive disease, like Parkinson’s, you never know how you are going to be in 6 months or 6 years. Will we continue to be able to travel in the next few years? We don’t know, so we have decided that we will do as much as we can now for as long as we can.
This time we are taking a cruise from Barcelona to Rome, and then heading to Israel for a week. So you probably will not hear from me for a while. I hope to at least post some photos while I am gone.

Taking it on the road
Last Sunday, Jim Morgan and Scott Rider, founders of Parkinson’s Across America, ended their speaking tour in the Twitchy’s back yard. Jim and Scott, both people with Parkinson’s, met several years ago when they co-chaired the Parkinson’s Foundation’s first Volunteer Summit. They were so inspired by the Summit that they came up with the idea to rent a van and head across America talking to people with Parkinson’s.
“We want to take the Parkinson’s Foundation’s initiative to “begin the conversation” about Parkinson’s disease to people who are living with and/or are making a difference in the lives of people living with Parkinson’s.” Delayed for two years because of the Pandemic, they finally began their journey last summer in Florida, taking one week a month to go to a different area of the country. Visiting my home in Los Angeles was the last stop and they are now taking a well-earned rest. With their camera crew, they will be creating a documentary film that will inspire hope for better lives for those living with Parkinson’s.
Some Odds and Ends

Registration is open for the World Parkinson’s Congress in Barcelona next July. Twitchy Woman has scholarships available for women with PD attending for the first time. If you are interested, please send an email to twitchywomanwpc@gmail.com
Twitchy Woman is also looking for women to be mentors for our Peer Mentoring Program. We have had great success with this program since it was launched last year. Studies have found that Peer support programs have been life changing to many of the paople who volunteer with the such systems. If you are interested in being a mentor, or are newly diagnosed and looking for a mentor, please go to the Peer Support page on the Twitchy Woman website and fill out the appropriate application form.
