Time Out: Another day in Paradise

Sunset over Maui, photo by Sharon Krischer

Look at that sunset; to me it looks like a soaring eagle.

ALOHA!!!

We are in Wailea on the island of Maui, where we have been many times before. Why? After my Graceland pratfall, I was terrified of traveling. Mr. Twitchy offered it as a bribe, but on the condition that, THIS TIME, we would plan to do NOTHING. No kayaking. No snorkeling. No anything. Just sit at the pool, watch the humpback whales (from the shore!), eat, read, nap, be massage whores and rest. And nap some more.

We arrived on Monday and as I write this it is Wednesday evening and so far, so good. In fact, so far, so great. Lots of pool time. The first massage. Great meals. NO FALLS (or anything even close). And even slightly better than mediocre sleep. (Except for the whales! Where the hell are they???) We might — might — schedule a whale watching cruise, but we only have two days left and massages come first, so we’ll see.

A meditation for you

For those of you stuck in the snow, I am sending you the healing vibes of Maui. Close your eyes and take a deep breath in. Feel the gentle breezes of the trade winds and listen to the birdsong and the crashing of the waves. Breathe out, repeat. Continue for at least 5 minutes to forget about the mountains of snow at your front door.

Two Webinars from Last Week

Last week, I was fortunate to host 2 great guests on my webinars.

First was Dr.Michael Okun, one of the top Parkinson’s experts in the world. Rather than give a talk about PD, he answered our questions. From vitamins to constipation to DBS, Dr. Okun gave clear and concise answers.

Watch the recording here:

Second, was Julie Fitzgerald, author of a children’s book about DBS, “The Secret Switch,” that she wrote with her granddaughter. She talked about the book, living with YOPD, being single with PD, and more. It became a great conversation between Julie and those who attended.

Sorry about the delay getting this to you, but Maui beckoned……….

Clinical Trials Corner

SEPTEMBER 2025

I’ve been hesitant to feature new clinical trials as a few that I had on my list to include in future columns have either been removed from the site or marked as withdrawn. Keeping my fingers crossed that the trials I feature continue to recruit and maintain their funding. Click here for the rest of the report from Jen

Thank You!

All Twitchy Women programs are free to all who participate. However, they are not without cost. It takes resources to continue our work and we cannot do it without your help. Through our partnership with the Parkinson’s Wellness Fund, those who want to provide support can do so. Thank you to all of you who have contributed. It is really appreciated.
